Children’s Mass in Sta. Cruz to Start Soon
“Children are not things to be molded, but are people to be unfolded.” This is why Fr. Bong Lunas, parish priest of St. Joseph Parish exerted plenty of efforts in putting up an activity that is centered on the little ones. It started with organizing the children’s choir, finding the right person who can work full time with them and have the expertise in motivating children and of teaching them songs. This choir had been coming every weekends to learn new songs and after a few weeks they started singing during communion in the morning masses. Parents became more involved, some of them dropping them off to the venue of rehearsals and some even stay the whole time of the rehearsals. As they become more visible in the community masses, the mass goers have developed anticipation of them singing on Sunday masses.
While these children establish friendship among themselves, enhance their skills in interpreting songs and develop the attitude of being responsible children doing their share in the community, they are not just being molded, each time they come to learn new songs, they are being unfolded. They are being guided to discover the natural singer inside them. Fr. Bong recently announced that these children will have their own children’s mass soon. (Blaze Cantaros)
