Social Action Apostolate in the Archdiocese of Davao

The Social Action Ministry of the Archdiocese of Davao in the light of APAD II envisions to integrate the faith and life in the socio-cultural, socio-political, socio-economic endeavors; uplift the life of the people towards genuine total development and liberation; defend and promote basic human rights; preserve, restore and protect the integrity of God’s creation; restore authentic Filipino values and culture; and promote attitudinal changes among the poor and the rich thru families, GKKs and other communities for the total transformation of the society that is “maka-Diyos, maka-tao, maka-buhay, maka-bayan at maka-kalikasan.”

Its programs include:

1. DISASTER PREPAREDNESS
   1. Vicariate Disaster Action Response Team (VDART)
   2. DADITAMA Disaster Management Ministry (DDMM)
   3. Alay Kapwa
      This is a Lenten program of the CBCP with an evangelizing component which motivates the sharing of time, talent and treasure: BECs shall have broadened their collective capacity to cope with their social difficulties. The BEC participants shall have been consciously protecting and conserving the natural and environment resources.
2. HEALTH
   1. Botika ng Parokya
      Archdiocesan Social Action Center Pharmacy is a charitable and non-profit health program selling cheap medicines in favor of the poorest of the poor.
   2. Skills Training Program in partnership with TESDA
