JCC starts IEC catechesis
IN preparation for the 51st International Eucharistic Congress next year, the John XXIII Catechetical Center (JCC) started the catechesis last month to Religious Education teachers from different Catholic schools in Davao City, Catholic Campus Ministry of Davao (CCMD), Davao Archdiocesan Youth Coordinating Apostolate (DAYCA), and other youth leaders. The gathering served as an avenue for the participants to be oriented on what IEC is all about.
Msgr. Max Sarno, director of JCCXIII gave its theological basis. According to him, the next year’s congress will be the second time to be hosted by the Philippines. The first was in Manila in 1937 (33rd IEC), and the second will be in January 2016 in Cebu City.
The congress is annually organized and celebrated in different parts of the world to remind the Catholic Christians on the importance of the Eucharist in their lives and service.
In partnership with the Archdiocesan Liturgical Center headed by Rev. Fr. Joel Caasi, it also launched and asked the participants to volunteer to raise funds for the IEC through the “PISO PARA SA MISA NG MUNDO” with a donation box found in parishes. The donations that will be gathered from these boxes will be forwarded to the national secretariat of the organizing body of the conference.
JCCXXII is open for invitations for it conduct discussions regarding the congress. The 51st IEC in 2016 is themed, “Christ in you, our hope and glory.” (Jecy Opada | Kalakbay)
