Vision-Mission of SocCom

The Vision of the Davao Verbum Dei Media Foundation, Inc. (DVDMFI), the policy-making body of the apostolate and publisher of DCHerald, adopts the vision of the Archdiocese of Davao as community of disciples of Jesus Christ, evangelized and evangelizing, transformed by the Word of God incarnate in the lives of the faithful.

The communications apostolate aspires to be one with the whole Archdiocese by becoming faithful to her three-fold mission which every believer receives upon baptism. Evangelized by and through the life of the priest, king and prophet Jesus Christ, it is called to exercise the same worship, teaching and serving ministry.

That is why, committing to imbibe the Catholic view of communication, the first among its mission is to propagate the Christ-life as fountain head of the faith. This Christ-life is manifested in the worshipping, teaching and serving function.

Along with this mission is crafting responsible social communications toward a renewed integral evangelization, and restoring and strengthening cultural values and total transformation of the faithful. In order to achieve this mission, the apostolate cannot just limit to teaching but also to worshipping and serving.

By virtue of our baptism, every member of the Church is called to be a communicator. Every baptized is a potential worker of the apostolate if not obliged to become one. Patterned after Christ, a good communicator is one who worships, teaches and serves.

As part of the Church then, the apostolate does not substitute nor pretend to suffice but contribute in her little way in the field of communications to the same mission of the Church without confusing the whole. As part of the Church, the apostolate exercises the integral life of the Church in worship, teaching and serving.

By using this new tagline — worshipping, teaching, serving — we are telling the world that our content and practice as communications apostolate is the life of the worshipping, teaching and serving community of the disciples of Jesus Christ.
