Newly-hired parish gardener

GARDENING was, is and will be my hobby. But aside from plants, what else can be cultivated?

I can’t recall nor calculate how much money I spent just to buy rare and new genetically cross-breed plants. I didn’t mind the price because I do believe that one of my happiness is seeing that my own cultivated plants grow healthy and in perfect bloom.

One day, I was puzzled when I noticed those new breeds of rare plants in larger and well-molded pots in Sto. Rosario Parish, the neighboring structure of Holy Cross of Malita, Inc. building, the school where I am teaching. I was very eager to know who the gardener is.

With the new breeds of plants are new faces of younger boys serving the Church. Many of them are going to the parish to have their practice as altar servers. One afternoon, while they were playing basketball, I asked them who is the gardener of those “beautiful plants” that are getting healthier each day. “Father Kim” was their reply. I even asked them if who is guiding them with their practice. “Father Kim” was their same reply.

Perhaps, I was just busy noticing the flowers that all I have in mind is the literal gardener. I wasn’t able to recognize that there is still another “gardener” cultivating the spirits of some younger boys in the parish.

Right then I stopped asking who the newly-hired parish gardener for I have already the answer in my mind…Fr. Kim Cossid, DCD the newly-hired parish gardener who cultivates not only plants but the spirits of its parishioners, as well. (Edel Quinn S. Dilla | Malita)
