Pentecost

The Age of the Church

Pentecost“The Church was made manifest to the world on the day of Pentecost by the outpouring of the Holy Spirit…In the age of the Church, Christ now lives and acts in and with his Church, in a new way appropriate to this new age” (CCC 1076).

After fifty days (Pentecost), since the resurrection of Jesus, we must relive the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the disciples. Also known as White Sunday maybe because that was the last day when the newly baptized wore their white garments, Our baptismal promises should strengthen our resolve as witnesses of His resurrection.

Many of us may not be able to enumerate the seven gifts and the twelve fruits of the Holy Spirit but we need to make the presence of the Holy Spirit manifest in our lives. Each one, and not only the priests and religious, nor only our GKK leaders, are gifted with the Spirit. The ordinary trisikad driver and street sweeper equally received the Holy Spirit like any lawyer or doctor who was baptized.

You and I make the Church alive! Let us be inspired, united and renewed as Temples of the Holy Spirit!
