Social Communications Updates

DXGN FMSpirit FM 89.9 DXGN Davao. Slowly but surely. We may describe our plan to reopen our Catholic station in the Archdiocese this way. It has been awaited for some time already. Many might have been impatient, others are apprehensive and still others might be indifferent.

Yet, whether there are difficulties we encounter, we must use all media of communications to spread the Good News.

Our application at the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) has been approved. We can now start on air. We still need to settle our financial obligations and might do it in an installment basis.

With the help of Fr. Francis Lucas of Catholic Media Network (CMN), we can now order the procurement of a new 10KW transmitter. According to Fr. Francis, we expect to have it installed two months after order. We pray that we will be on air soon.

World Communications Sunday. This year’s World Communications Sunday will be held in the Vicariate of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus in Calinan. As an Archdiocesan celebration, we hope to relay the theme of this year’s celebration: “Communicating the Family: A Privileged Place of Encounter with the Gift of Love.”

Thanks to the partnership of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) for the “Presyo Diskwento” Caravan. Consumers for basic needs and school supplies may avail of the discounted prices. Skills training for one day will also be offered for our parishioners and GKK members.

Thanks also to Sr. Lorna Murillo, PM of Holy Cross College of Calinan (HCCC) for allowing us to use their school covered court and facilities.

Our gratitude also goes to Fr. Arnel Tadeo, the Vicar Forane and priests within the Vicariate for their support and cooperation in inviting consumers and in looking for beneficiaries.

We are also grateful to the Holy Trinity Community for sponsoring our food and other school supplies for giveaways to our poor beneficiaries.

PPI Annual Meeting. For this year’s Philippine Press Institute (PPI) Annual Meeting in Manila on May 14-16, our new Associate Editor, Dr. Cheryl A. Vilog, PhD., will represent DCHerald. This is another venue for DCHerald for exposure and learning in the field of print media.
