Pray the Rosary and Meditate
ASIDE from Flores de Mayo for Peace, we the adults and the children should pray the rosary and meditate on the mysteries during the month of May.
Repeating the Our Father and Hail Mary many times is good especially when they are well said. By this is meant being conscious of the meaning of the words. This is also meditation.
More appropriately it had been the teaching of St. Dominic de Guzman, originator of the rosary, and approved by the Church to meditate on the so-called mysteries in the life of Jesus and Mary.
The reason is, by meditating we are inspired to imitate the good behavior or virtues of Jesus and Mary and Joseph. And when we imitate or follow their example, we will obtain whatever we ask from them. This is summarized in the prayer after the litany. It recalls the promise of Jesus to His disciples: “If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, you can ask whatever you want and it shall be done to you” (John 15:7).
To facilitate meditation you begin by visualizing an episode or event as described in the stated mystery. To visualize is to make yourself intentionally present in the event or episode. This is the moment when inspiring thoughts and touching feelings possess your consciousness, which is actually the work of the Holy Spirit. Then change happens.
So devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary consists in veneration of her statues and images, commemoration of her feasts, petition for her intercessory power, meditation on her life and imitation of her virtues. Imitation is the most important obligation of a Marian devotee.
