‘Kay Kristo Buong Buhay, Habambuhay’
CHRIST’S Youth in Action (CYA) reunited as it turned 23 through a fund-raising dinner buffet, May 9.
CYA is a national movement of college students in the Philippines with the battle cry: “Kay Kristo Buong Buhay, Habambuhay.” It is an outreach movement of the Holy Trinity Community (HTC). From Hebrews, the event was themed: “May those who came before us find us faithful.”
Testimonials from CYA members ‘fired up’ the evening. Lawrence Perocho, BS Pharmacy graduate pointed on why he took the opportunity of joining it: “Loving the Lord of service,” he said. “I met different challenges while serving in CYA. At first, I was hesitant in joining religious communities because of the feeling of unworthiness. But for me, loving the Lord is the root why I am still serving now.”
CYA Davao Coordinator Krishna Mie Zabate, shared her 11 years of living as supported by a community. “I learned to love and appreciate my family more. CYA is a way of life. It’s not just about activities; it’s more of building relationships with one another, especially with the Lord.” she added.
Today, CYA-Davao has 300 members and 68 graduates from the University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC), 40 members and 36 graduates from Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU). (Janin Langoy with reports from Teresa Marie Dumandan)
