HIYEE! Mother’s Day is every day actually. Here is a sender who is just so happy to have a Marian mommy.

Dear KNOT,

My mother is a Marian devotee. She was born in a Catholic family and her grandmother who was a devout Catholic had greatly influenced her religious orientation. She told us that she usually did not miss her attendance to our unique religious tradition of Misa de Gallo with her grandmother.

Naturally, her devotion with Mama Mary, the Mother of Jesus who is also the Mother of the Church is unquestionable. At home she encourages us to always pray the Rosary regularly and fervently. Aside from her normal routine as a mother, a wife and a Medical government employee, being a Medical Technologist of the Davao City Health Office, she set aside regular schedules in expressing her devotion to the Holy Mother, in fact, she travels as far as Batangas and Cebu just to be with their Marian group, which literally spends their precious time with prayer and devotion to the Virgin Mother of God.

Practically every Saturday, together with the group, my mother goes to Barangay Catigan, Toril District, where a known religious destination is located. It is, I would say, a pilgrim site for it is where a Grotto of the Blessed Mother, and proven miraculous at that, is located. Thereat, they pray the Rosary, meditate, reflect, spend time with the Marian group, and attend the Celebration of the Holy Mass with regular and devoted small congregation of the faithful. They spend practically the whole afternoon of Saturday until evening for that cherished purpose.

Aside from Saturday, every 13th day of each Month, they go up there at Catigan for the same purpose of praying and attending Mass at noon time, and in the evening they go up to another pilgrimage site of the Barangay New Carmen after Magtuod in this City for the same religious reason.

I feel blessed too for having a Mother who is a Marian devotee. My mother’s heart is the child’s schoolroom. Thank you for this section. God bless you! – Eunice Saco
