The Holy Trinity Community and Emmaus Way (Part 1 of 2)
Interview with Paul Garcia, Emmaus Way Coordinator
Senior Coordinator: Cesar Mozar
More than a hundred participants had just graduated from the 4th Emmaus Basic Course (EBC), sponsored by the HTC. Let us get to know more about the course as well as the community.
What is Emmaus Way (EW)?
Emmaus Way is the group sponsoring the Emmaus Basic Course, a group formed by the Holy Trinity Community (HTC). HTC is a community that has an evangelistic arm called the Emmaus Way. In order for the evangelization program of the HTC to be more effective, the community thought of forming a separate group, Emmaus Way, but this is not separate in a sense na it’s not independent. Many committed community members serve in Emmaus Way. Emmaus Way group is an outreach focused on evangelization of the Holy Trinity Community, so it is in the Emmaus Way where we conduct the pre-formation courses.
One of the pre-formation courses that we give is the Emmaus Basic Course. It is very much similar to the Life in the Spirit Seminar (LSS).
Almost as if we are using the same outline but we just tweaked a little bit some talks, examples, ‘yung mga kwento. That’s why, this course, we conduct it every year. This began with a different name—LSS, then Alpha, but now Emmaus Basic Course.
It is not just a movement, because it has a certain goal to be part of a covenanted community. Sa atin, after evangelization, we hope that graduates will be able to handle community life (in HTC).
