OBU’s 46th camp to convene youth leaders
FORTY days of Lent has ended. But the number still remains significant.
To produce better Christians, the annual summer Christian Citizenship/Leadership Training Program of the Operation Build-Up Movement/Katipunan ng Diwang Sambayanihan has again commenced in the Brothers of the Holy Family, Buhangin, Davao City last April 6, 2015. It will still run for 40 days, thus will end on May 17, 2015.
Thirty participants from parishes and other related organizations of the Archdiocese of Davao City, and from San Gabriel Seminary of the Passionist priests of Koronadal City are attending. The said summer work camp will be manned by young volunteers (OBU graduates) and council of elders.
The OBU Movement under the moderatorship of Fr. Paul Dagangon is thankful to the Brothers of the Holy Family (Bros. Dello and Edgardo) for the free use of their formation center, as well as to Fr. Jess Samaniego of St. Mary’s Parish for the facilities. Part of the training module is the collaboration with the different parish organizations such as the youth, GKKs and Buhangin community.
Since its foundation by the late Fr. Paul Cunanan in 1969, OBU was never dependent on grants and foreign funding for its operation. It relies on donations and sponsorship of other groups and individuals who believe in the vision of total human integral development focused mainly on the youth.
Registration fees are from the participants, through the support of parents and other sponsors. It will be consumed on the food as they will live in one home for 40 days.
However, additional donations are encouraged for the logistical needs such as supplies and other materials.
