Int’l Preacher on Practical Tips to Share Jesus (Part 2 of 3)
“That’s one thing you people have. There’s a certain joy in the Filipinos taking them wherever they go, whether they sing and dance and everything.”
ON CHILDREN’S CATECHISM
Fr. Gino: Every sign of the body of a child is from Jesus. It is most important for the child to know. The first duty of a parent is to feed the child; to give spiritual food; to make Jesus known for the child. According to the age, we introduce the faith to the child. Most important, they also have to begin to be spiritual.
ON CHRISTIAN PERSECUTIONFr. Gino: Jesus told us that after you read Chapter 5 on the “Sermon on the Mount of Jesus” in Matthews’s gospel, the last beatitude is “Blessed are you when men persecute you, and do all kinds of evil things against you. You’ll be great in heaven.” So persecution is part of being a Christian. We are discriminated against, hated, persecuted and even killed. So that is the part of a character of being a Christian. You have to expect that.
ON DAVAO EVANGELIZERS
Fr. Gino: I can see many things about the Davao evangelizers. The first thing I am happy about them is they are not too sophisticated. This means that they are more open to listen to you; not captured by this fashion and that fashion, this perfume and that brands of clothes and all that.
Even as that simple that makes them disciples. The second thing I find in them is that, they are willing to learn. They want to know, they are happy to know. That’s the second positive trait in them, you see?
So, first, not too sophisticated, secondly, simple and willing and love to learn and thirdly, very loving people, very accepting, you know.
ON HIS VISION BY 2033
Fr. Gino: I want an explosion of evangelization after 25 years. The explosion must start now.
