Davao City at 78 years old
There is so much to celebrate as Davao City turns 78. The city has evolved from a frontier town to a bubbling metropolis that stands out from among many in the world today. Its transformation did not come overnight but had been a slow painstaking growth over the years. This claim to prominence is not ours to make.
A few recognitions and awards:
“Most Culture-Friendly City in the Phil”; “One of the 20 Most Livable Cities in Asia” (Asiaweek); “Integrated Emergency Response System” (911); “Top Destination of the Year” (Kalakbay Award); “Cleanest and Greenest Highly Urbanized City in the Phil”; “Most Child-Friendly City in the Philippines”; “Most Competitive City To Do Business in the Phil”; “Most Gender Responsive LGU in the Phil”; Hall of Fame: Best Peace and Order Council of the Phil”; “Most Outstanding LGU”; “Regional Green Banner Awardee”; “Top Government Withholding Agent”; ”Most Outstanding Chamber of Commerce in the Phil and in Asia Pacific Region”; “Most Outstanding KBP Chapter in the Phil”; “Cleanest Air in the World Member of the Clean Cities Coalition”.
To top it all, Davao City is widely regarded as the safest place in the world and where law and order reign supreme.
Credit all this to our people, to our leaders, to our resiliency and to our collective vision. We are a diverse culture—lumads, Muslims, Christians but bound into one: being a DABAWENYO.
Mabuhay Dabaw!
