“DCM: Reflecting on our Ministry of Mercy and Compassion to the poor” is this year’s theme for the 39th Diocesan Clergy of Mindanao (DCM) Convention. What does Mercy and Compassion really mean for our church leaders?
“I hope that it will challenge us all to be more merciful and compassionate not only the Priests but also the Lay Faithful because God is Merciful, compassionate and we were created in His image and likeness and therefore we must be like Him.” ~Most Rev. Wilfredo Manlapaz, D.D., Diocese of Tagum
“We have been configured to Christ by baptism, it is true that may emphasis si Cardinal Quevedo sa mga pari because ang mga audience mga pari, but let us remember that Jesus is the compassion of God. So let us all be Merciful and Compassionate to others because being merciful and compassionate is available in us, just like Pope Francis.” ~Most Rev. Romulo Valles, D.D., Archdiocese of Davao
“It is very comprehensive and it speaks about our role as shepherds that it should be imbibed in us and should personify in us that mercy and compassion of Jesus himself nga Makita ni sa mga tao diha sa atong pag-alagad kanila sa paghatod kanila sa mercy and compassion of Jesus.” ~Most Rev. Edwin Dela Pena, Prelature of Marawi
“Kana nga kina-iya sa atong Ginoo, ang iyang ministriya ug ang iyang pagka manggiluy-on ug pagkamatinabangon ug pagkamapa-ubsanon mao ang dapat nga kinaiya nga angay nga dalhon sa mga pari ilabina sa ang pag-alagad ngadto sa mga kabus.” ~Msgr. Abel Apigo, Archdiocese of Davao and DCM’s newly elected president and Rector of Regional Major Seminary
“It was really reminded us priests to be merciful and compassionate always especially to the poor, Because sometimes there are some priests and including myself they are inclined to have a special treatment to the elites so this time, I was enlightened, encourage and challenged to reflect of what is really the purpose of being a Priest.” ~Fr. Richard Dan Deloso, San Antonio De Padua Parish, Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro
Truly, Mindanaoan Priests shares different point of views but with one goal and that is to be one of Pope Francis’ clone, a clone of goodness, mercy and compassion. (Lloyd Labanon)
