‘Ang Totoong Nagmamahal, Umiiyak’ #PapalVisitPH stories Part 2 of 4

So, umuulan na.
Maginaw pero salamat sa dami ng tao at “ka-pope te.”
‘Di masyadong batid ang lamig.
Remember what penguins do when they feel cold?
They get closer to each other for warmth.
Yes, we were like YELLOW PENGUINS.

Kidding aside, tears started when we saw the Papal’s plane going out of Villamor airbase.
The Pope is coming to meet us. The Pope is meeting ME!
That was the feeling.

Here’s a photo and stories I got from a friend in CBCP media, Teresa Tunay.

A moving moment: Pope Francis points at the image of the crucified Christ and says: “Jesus is there, nailed to the cross, and from there He does not let us down. He was consecrated as Lord on that throne and there He experienced all the calamities that we experience…We have a Lord who cries with us and walks with us in the most difficult moments of life…Some of you have lost part of your families. All I can do is keep silence and walk with you all with my silent heart…This is what comes from my heart. Forgive me if I have no other words to express myself. Please know that Jesus does know what to say to you in the silence…Jesus is Lord, Jesus never lets you down.”

At Pope’s arrival, Jan 15, I met the two children to welcome Pope Francis with garlands, Angelo, 10, and Lanie, 9. They both reside at Tuloy sa Don Bosco, a home for abandoned children. What did they want to give the pope? Angelo said “flowers”; Lanie said, “a tight hug.”

For 14 hours, the life of Pope Francis was in his hands. Captain Manuel Antonio Tamayo, PAL VP for Flight Operations, served as pilot-in-command and flight commander during the pope’s flight back to Rome Jan. 19.
