Wished to see Pope Francis
Over 24,000 young people from all over the country flocked to the University of Sto. Tomas for the Youth Encounter. This was part of the 4-day itinerary visit of Christ’s Vicar- Pope Francis which started last January 15.
Amidst the heavy rain, the young people of God withstood the challenge of the weather, just to see and listen to the Pontiff.
Being one of the young people of this country, I wanted to be there but was not able to do so.
Our television became my channel to see the Pope and listen to his message.
In the middle of my viewing, a friend asked me through fb chat, “In what way does Pope Francis inspire the youth of today?”
Having read the question, I paused for a moment and meditated.
After a couple of minutes I replied: “The Pope inspires the young through living a simple, yet meaningful life. He teaches us that one doesn’t need many to give much. By giving and showing love, mercy, and compassion to one another is enough to make life wonderful. There is always beauty in simplicity.”
I didn’t see the Pope in person, but his teachings and words of encouragement have inspired me to become a better person; to be a leader and ambassador of Christ who must show love, mercy and compassion to all my brothers and sisters.
