Mindanao is better-shaped for 2015
Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) Director Romeo V. Montenegro said that Mindanao is better-shaped in 2015.
During Kapehan sa Davao Press Conference held at the SM City Davao Annex last Dec 5, 2015 he also said that good things happened last 2014, which has a total GRDP (Gross Regional Development Product) of 7 – 8% despite the low GDRP way back in 2013, which was 6.3%, and has the possibility to grow higher this year.
From last year’s rotational brownout that brought problems not just to businessmen but also to the households, this 2015 there would be a better-shaped power supply onwards 2016 to 2017 due to the ongoing power plant project with the signing of the peace agreement last 2014.
Products in Mindanao such as bananas, cacaos, rubber, seaweeds and a lot more that have growing demands on international market that could pull the agricultural system of the region are competing not just in other regions but also in the other countries.
For the betterment of the region, Mindanao should be prepared on ASEAN INTEGRATION in tough competition of products to other countries. Mindanao has its high advantage because we are closer to 9 countries.
Montenegro added that to be able to find a harmony against the economy and environment, there would be another Treevolution this year with the help of Government and non-government sectors who had planted in hectares of land last year. (Jesa B. Tombo)
