Epiphany of the Lord
In his sermon on this day, St. Leo the Great said: “Let the children of the promise now receive the blessing in the seed of Abraham, the blessing renounced by the children of the flesh. In the persons of the Magi let all the people adore the Creator of the universe, let God be known, not in Judea only, but in the whole world, so that his name may be great in all Israel.”
As a Filipino country, we are heading towards the celebration of our 500th year of Christian faith; we are celebrating the year of the poor; we are preparing for the visit of Pope Francis this month; we are observing the year for consecrated life. All of these are manifestations of the blessing of being God’s children.
Let this New Year be for each one of us a year of letting God be known for the poor and the people at the periphery. As a country who made the name of God great in Asia, may the light of Christ shine through us by our very good deeds of service, compassion and mercy for the lost, the last and the least.
Happy Epiphany to one and all!
