Congress ‘Poorest’ Trust Level

SURVEY—A recent  survey result released by EON, a leading public affairs advocacy  firm, showed that the CHURCH as a whole (without specifics as to denominations) is the MOST trusted, followed by the ACADEME, second;  and the MEDIA, third.   CONGRESS (both Senate and the House) had the poorest rating, at the bottom of the ladder   — as the LEAST TRUSTED!

HONORABLE  — I am sad at the credibility problem of our legislators nowadays. I was in Congress starting in 1987 right after martial law was lifted and legislators were then at the crest of people’s high expectations and goodwill.  People addressed us then as the “Honorable Congressman”.  And we felt mighty proud. Today, they are still addressed the same way. But I really wonder why they are NO LONGER held in high esteem nowadays. You know why? Never mind!

HEALING EUCHARIST — Last Sunday morning, I and my wife Beth watched the Healing Eucharist mass nation-wide telecast from Manila on ABS CBN and we were  so surprised to hear the officiating priest during his sermon mentioning Davao Mayor Duterte as an example of how law and order should be done. This was after the Davao visit of former President Ramos who also “subliminally” expressed support for “Digong” who, in turn rejects and declines a presidential draft at all times. Let’s watch how this will develop though. As we always say, being president is destiny. Not a choice.

ALL SAINTS, SOULS DAY — While we remember the departed these days, it’s a good time for all of us to also think about how we live. And serve others. Do we?
