Seminarians serve lugaw for their neighbors
“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me…Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.” Matthew 25:35, 40
It was a gray Sunday morn, the 13th of July, 2014, when a group of young men in clerical attire went off and trod the muddy road of Bago Aplaya.
The impending rain did not stop the dashing seminarians of St. Francis Xavier Pre-College Seminary to bring joy and comfort to the less fortunate through the initiative of its coordinator, Rev. Fr. Elvie Bordios.
“It’s a heart breaking experience for me – so to speak,” says Sem. Elton John Erat, PCOSE Vice-President, “one should realize how blessed indeed we are and we should be grateful for it.”
“We were surrounded and greeted enthusiastically by children and women alike,” Danny Boy Lazaga, PCOSE Secretary, fondly recalled, “the smile and welcoming gestures, it was something worth telling.”
The people gladly received bowls of warm “lugaw” – a meager meal received with warmth, topped with a sweet smile. “Seeing them wearing those smiles is simple enough to rekindle our dimming hearts,” Lazaga continued.
“We are planning more for our up-coming activities together with the SFX-PCOSE officers.” Says Sem. Jan Rainmar Chu, PCOSE Socio-Cultural Chairman, “More exciting gigs for a cause – to reach out and to touch hearts!”
This is the first outreach event of the St. Francis Xavier Pre-College Seminary batch 2014-2015 under the guidance of Rev. Fr. Elvie Bordios.
