NOMINATE YOUR DATU BAGO CANDIDATE
Datu Bago and the saga of Muslim heroism was the historical-cultural highlight of the Araw ng Dabaw 40 years ago on March 1, 1974. Datu Bago as Davao City’s hero has been the subject of Mayor Luis T. Santos’s personal researches and studies.
Today, the search continues not on the life of Datu Bago, but to Davao residents who showed exemplary competence and dedication to his/her tasks like him who fought against the Spaniards, for the growth and development of the City. If anyone knows a person who models excellence and inspiration to the residents of Davao, nominate him/her as the DatuBago Foundation, Inc. is once again opening the season for the Datu Bago Awards 2015.
Forms are available at the office of Ms. Maria Julieta R. Torres, Institutional Affairs, UM Bolton Campus. Deadline for the submission of nomination is on October 31, 2014.
The conferment of the prestigious Datu Bago Award is held annually during the Araw ng Davao celebration. The late Mayor Elias B. Lopez and USEP’s President Perfecto Alibin were recognized awardees this year, while our very own media apostolate pioneers and BOT members Bishop Clovis Thibault, PME, Jesus G. Dureza, Ma. Iris A. Melliza, Ed.D, and Archbishop Emeritus Fernando Capalla, D.D., were among the recipients of this prestigious award in varying years.
