Living and Loving Davao

Part 1 of 2

Hiyee! It’s August.  It’s Kadayawan month.  For our visitors who will be staying here few days from now  especially the directors of liturgy for the National Meeting of Diocesan Directors of Liturgy (NMDDL) slated on August 11-14, here are two separate stories from our ADDU Mass Communication students. 

Davao City, located at the southeastern part of Mindanao, is home to seven Philippine famous things: the Dutertes, smoke-free place, speed limit, durians, Waling-waling orchids, the Philippine Eagle, and Mt. Apo. The city is also a center of trade and industry for other ASEAN countries such as Brunei, Indonesia, and Malaysia.

Aside from travelling by land or sea, Davao City can also be accessed by plane. Davao International Airport has flights from other points in the country particularly from Manila, Cebu, Bacolod, Iloilo, Kalibo, and Zamboanga. The airport is also a 15-minute ride from downtown and vice-versa by riding a cab, jeepney, or your own car.

Located in Damosa Gateway Complex in Lanang, Microtel Inn and Suites is just 10 minutes away from the airport which makes it convenient to the travelers. Their accommodation comes at an affordable price, too.

Davao Crocodile Park, located at Corporate City along Diversion Road in Ma-a, the guests have the chance to talk with the animal keepers who can explain things regarding the environment, and they will also have the chance to meet the crocodiles.

Sitting atop Shrine Hills in Matina, Jack’s Ridge offers a good view of the city particularly at night. After taking your meals at Taklobo Restaurant, you may head to Karlo’s Gourmet and Coffee to enjoy your favorite cup of coffee and desserts, or to Kai’s Bar and Grill to enjoy the music and drinks.

For those who want to go to the beach, Paradise Island Park and Beach Resort is for you. It is just 10-15 minute boat-ride away from the downtown area. Their white sand beach and its surroundings are maintained all day to give everyone a good and clean ambiance.

Davao is the place for you if you are looking for a relaxing city life, and the city gives you a complete package—be it air, land, or sea. Indeed, life is here in Davao.(Tiziana Celine Piatos)
