Ascension Soccom, PSBs are new Media Babies
“Write to express not to impress.”
Around 20 members of the Social Communication and Documentation team and the youth apostolate of the Ascension Parish of the Lord attended the Church Media Literacy Caravan dubbed as Media Baby ka ba? on June 28 at the Bishop Tonel Hall.
“This is such a memorable event. Since you have your cameras and the basic skills in editing, we have chosen this group to pilot-run our module on photo journalism plus video production/visual storytelling since we started in 2011”, says Dr. Cheryl Vilog, one of the members of the Training and Support Department of the Davao Verbum Dei Media Foundation, Inc., the media apostolate of the Archdiocese of Davao.
Aside from Photo Journ and Video Editing, other topics include the Church Documents on the Social Communication and Mass Media history, The Power of Social Media, Being Online Missionaries of God (OMG) and News writing.
Soccom Moderator Ms. Rochelle Priete says, “Everything has a purpose since we’ve been looking for people who can run this kind of seminar, then I met one of the speakers and she told me that they are currently doing a caravan and conducting this seminar for free. “
The said seminar has opened more opportunities for the team as they will continue to write and cover events to express and not to impress.
The next Media Baby ka ba? will be held in Mandug Parish this August 10.
