Year of the Laity Formation Introduced in the Archdiocese of Davao

Lay Formators, Nuns and Priests from the different parishes and congregations of the Archdiocese of Davao attended the seminar formation, catechesis for the Year of the Laity On March 31 to April 2, 2014.

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) through the Episcopal Commission on the Laity (ECLA) came to Davao and conducted a seminar for the Lay Formators, Nuns and Priests under the formation Ministry of the Archdiocese of Davao to introduce formation for this year, the Year of the Laity held at MIC Cursillo Retreat House, DavaoCity.

The Formation was spearheaded by Msgr. Jose Antonio Galvez, Program Director, and assisted by Sr. Lydia M. Collado, RSCJ, Ms. Rebecca “Rica” S. Lavilla, Czarina “Shary” Espiritu and Mr. Isidro “Syd” S. Baradi IV.

Dubbed as “Holy Heroes, Called to be Saints…Sent Forth as Heroes!”  the formation has three Modules: Module I- Lay (Laity)…Lay Your Heart to be Holy. Module II- Lay(Laity)… Lay down your Life to be a Hero. Module III- Lay (Laity)…Lay the foundation of the Holy Heroes.

Msgr. Maximo M. Sarno, the Director of the JohnXXIIICatecheticalCenter of the Archdiocese of Davao graced the event with his presence.

“Wala dyud ko nagdahum nga isa ko sa makaapil ani nga Seminar; pagkanindut dyud, dako kaayo ako pasalamat sa Ginoo…”, Annie Quadizar said, a Pre-Cana Lecturer and a member of the Parish Formation Ministry of San Miguel Parish under the guidance of Rev. Fr. Proceso G. Gimeno Jr., DCD .  She also said: “Ako gayud kini ipaambit ngadto sa tanang katawhan sakop sa among Parokya.”

The Holy Heroes Seminar was so successful and gave hope to be spread to the entire people of God in the Archdiocese of Davao. The CBCP the team is scheduled to go to Zamboanga after Davao in order to conduct another seminar there.
