St. Joseph the Worker Parish marks golden Jubilee
May 1, 2014 is a story worth retelling — how St. Joseph the Worker Parishioners toil the celebration of the Golden Jubilee Anniversary which marks the 50 years of service and evangelization.
To emblem a milestone, the Parish launched a year-round series of programs and activities that give importance to the different sectors of St. Joseph the Worker Parish Community. Monthly events include the Gathering of Fathers in the month of June 2013, followed by Gozos Contest in July, Media Practitioners Forum in August, Promotion of Vocation in September, Gathering of Teachers and Formators in October, Education/Action for Justice and Peace in November, Festival of Parish Social Action Program in December, Strengthening one’s Faith through the Word of God attended by Pupils/Students in January, Pro-Life Month in February, Propagation of Devotion to St. Joseph in March, Fellowship and Sharing in April.
The Anniversary year included a full program of events that
characterized the unique team spirit and tremendous support of the 9 ZONES composed of 44 GKKs and the boundless leadership of the Pastoral Team (Bro. Jun Atinen, Sis. Madz Tito, Sis. Amie Desquitado, Bro. Robert Herrero, Bro. Boy Taghoy, Bro. Victor Miclat, Sis. Susan Andoy, Bro. Ed Andoy, Sis. Sabel Reta and Bro. Greg Boyose) headed by our dynamic and talented Parish Priest, Fr. Dionisio Tabiliran and the GKK Leaders.
After the one-year grounding, the spirit of oneness is onceagain displayed on May 1, 2014 that flourish the Anniversary Theme “MAPASALAMATON, MATUOHON UG MAPADAYUNONG PAGLAWIG NIINING TUIG SA LAYKO UBAN NI SAN JOSE NGA MAMUMUO”
The festivity was graced by Archbishop Romulo Valles as he officiated the Anniversary Mass at 9:00 AM, followed by the blessing and installation of the Time Capsule. Lunchtime came, a sumptuous lunch prepared by all GKK was joyfully shared by everyone.
As part of the 50th Year Anniversary Celebration, a grand program was held in the afternoon of May 1 which highlights the Recognition and Awarding of those with 20 to 30 years and above of service in the GKK and a colourful Cultural Presentation by Zone.
The year-round celebration would have not been possible without all parishioners/GKK members and owners of the nearby establishments working as a community of faith, giving support to one another, and selflessly sharing treasures, talents and time. Likewise, a salute to the Organizing Committee for their tireless work and for their unwavering cooperation.
Everyone went home with the challenge to consistently live by the Anniversary Theme: “MAPASALAMATON, MATUOHON UG MAPADAYUNONG PAGLAWIG NIINING TUIG SA LAYKO UBAN NI SAN JOSE NGA MAMUMUO”.
