Nat’l Confab for Liturgists to be held in Davao
The 29th National Meeting of Diocesan Directors of Liturgy (NMDDL) is set this coming 11-14 of August, just in time for the Kadayawan Festival.
More than the tour, welcome dinner and the camaraderie that await the 250 participants composed of liturgy directors, liturgy professors in seminaries and schools of theology, and the graduates of Paul VI Institute of Liturgy in the Philippines, increasing the knowledge on the importance and essence of Liturgy for Special Groups will be highlighted this year. Conferences will include Ecclesiology of BEC, Liturgy and BEC, Liturgy with Children, Liturgy with Transparochial Communities, Liturgy for Persons with Disabilities, and the New Translation of the Rite of Marriage for the Philippines; and The New English Translation of the Rite of Confirmation.
With the appointed lay and religious priests and nuns to work hand in hand as committee heads and members, the Executive Secretary of the Episcopal Commission on Liturgy (ECL) Fr. Gen Diwa expresses, “Try to be convinced that when you prepare for this event, it is the whole Philippines that you are influencing.”
He added, during the preparatory session last April 29 at the Archbishop’s Palace, that all activities are formative hoping that each one will learn from it. “Thank you for the effort. Whatever they experience here in Davao, they will remember it.”
The NMDDL is a yearly gathering of all directors of the diocesan liturgical commissions in the Philippines in order to update them on liturgical concern, promote greater coordination between the ECL, and to create closer ties among them. The first NMDDL meeting was held in Tagaytay in 1986. Presently, the Chairperson is Bp. Julius Tonel.
