HERALDS OF THE GOOD NEWS

Part 2 of 5

“A volunteer leader’s personal passion for the group’s mission is contagious and it motivates.”  – John M. Knibb

Michael Tan

Hailed from Malita, Davao del Sur, Michael has been volunteering for Herald since 2010. His passion for photography and article writing led him to substitute often our sole reporter.

Wearing the identity of being a Herald of the Good News, his special love for the Liturgy made him a President to the Ministry of Altar Servers in Davao del Sur in 2006.

When asked if he has the plan to go back in the seminary, Michael quipped, “I am not closing my door.  Let go and let God.”

With Pope Benedict XVI as his “birth mate”, surely more fruitful years of service await this young, down-to-earth buddy as he would continue to provide us with more photos and news bits.

Bernie’s interest in becoming a Social Communications and Mass Media volunteer is motivated by his unselfish desire to share and serve God.

Choosing the Social Media as his Ministry, his skills and experience include project monitoring and evaluation, sales, marketing and promotions, working with young people and social media.

For Bernie, serving God would be like wrapping oneself as an offering to others as he aptly describes the servant that he is: “I would be a gift of love.” Currently, Bernie is the lay-out artist of DC Herald newspaper.

Considered one of the many favored resource speakers of various communities, Tita Bel shares the passion for farming and embroidery.  She is truly an inspiring presence to be with.

Sharing her experience in sales and marketing with skills in teaching and writing, Tita Bel continues to contribute her gifts as a volunteer member of the Planning and Monitoring Ministry of the Social Communications and Mass Media Apostolate, heeding the call to humble service: “ I am a very inadequate servant of God.  Am very short in giving back to God the unconditional love He has for me.  Praise Him for never giving up on me, and by His grace, I embrace Him where I am.”

Bella Carmencita A. Sarenas

Planning and Monitoring Ministry

Truly gifted with hands that inspire and create, Mercy’s line of interests include painting, baking, cooking and crafts.

Her volunteer work and faith as a servant of God speaks of a true service and following the Lord: “It is an honor to be called a servant of God.  It means that I really should be a step behind at all times and be sensitive to the beat of His heart.  It is no longer how I feel or what I want, but dying to oneself moment by moment, and seeing things in God’s perspective.”
