Evangelize through Social Media
Seventeen ministry members of San Miguel Parish, Panacan attended the Media Baby ka ba? Basic Journalism Seminar workshop seminar conducted by the Davao Catholic Herald Team last May 11, 2014 at San Miguel Parish Lay Eucharistic Ministers’ office.
The participants who came from different ministries and organizations of San Miguel Parish learned from John Frances Fuentes and Dr. Cheng Vilog together with Rev. Fr. Ritsche Gamaya the basics in news writing and the need of social communications as mandated by the Church.
Ate Neng Pascua, the Social communications coordinator of the parish designed the said workshop with her team Kuya Ric Otero and Ate Dolly Fernandez. In spite of the hectic schedule, the team made it and materialized the said workshop.
Dr. Joel Reyes Ph.D. and Sir Alvin Olaer MAT-RE both lay formators of the parish also joined the workshop given the expectation to learn more about this field which includes evangelizing through the use of social media. The participants listen intently and enthusiastically in their desire to be well equipped in using social media and photojournalism in the work of evangelization.
The attendees felt very happy because they acquired new knowledge to be used in their respective ministry, especially in social communications. They wish to have another chance to attend this kind of seminar in the future.
