Calinan Youth Celebrates Annual Summer Youth Camp 2014
The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish Calinan through the Parish Youth Apostolate conducted its annual Summer Youth Camp, with the theme “Young People called to be Saints: sent forth to know, to love, and to be with God”.
Inspired by the theme of the Year of the Laity, this year’s youth camp gathered 374 participants from the 6 districts in the parish, 22 facilitators from the AJC Sisters and the Seminarians from the St. Francis Xavier College Seminary and St. Francis Xavier Regional Major Seminary, 39 animators, 20 working com (Music, Medics, canteen and kitchen in charges), and 25 Core Group members headed by their very energetic and supportive Spiritual Director, Rev. Fr. Ricky Montero.
The first day started with the Mass presided by Fr. Montero followed by the opening program. The first talk was given by Sr. Ma. Angela Remonde, AJC about the call to become saints. After the talk the facilitators facilitated the sharing where lots of different reflections were shared among the members of each groups. In the evening, the participants had their Human Rosary then followed by a Bonfire.After the said evening activities, action songs, youth jam followed which was led by the animators and the music ministry. The first day ended with a night prayer.
The second day started with the Holy Mass presided by Fr. ArnelTadeo. The participants listened to the talk given by Jesardnel Vargas, a member of the CFD who focused his sharing on the importance of the Word of God in our lives. Group sharing followed and different team building activities were facilitated by the animators. The participants including the seminarians and the sisters enjoyed the team building activities. In the afternoon, the members of the Core group facilitated the Laronglahi in which the participants enjoyed their childhood games. In the evening, there was a Socio Cultural presentation where the participants showed their talents in singing, dancing etc. Then youth jam and night prayer followed.
The third day was a very wonderful day among all the campers for it was one of the highlights of this year’s camp, the Hiking activity. The participant woke as early as 4:30 in the morning just to prepare for the hiking which started at around 5:30 in the morning. They hiked Mt. Munoy, one of the many mountains in Calinan which is also near the campsite. It was a very breath-taking activity among the campers in which they were able to appreciate God’s creation and they were also fortunate to see the sunrise on the peak over-looking the Calinan Poblacion. After the hiking the animators facilitated the animation workshop in which they taught the participants of the different stepping on the different animation songs. Then Holy mass followed which was presided by Fr. Ricky Flores. After the mass there was a Fiesta sa Nayon where the different GKK leaders brought delicious foods for their participants. The Parish Youth Apostolate through this Annual Summer Youth Camp Activity hopes that the young people of Calinan will become closer to God, to know, to love and to serve Him more.
