DOPPO Complies to creation of provincial advisory council
City of Mati, Davao Oriental – In compliance to the thrust of the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Davao Oriental Provincial Police Office (DOPPO), under the helm of Provincial Director Police Senior Supt. Jose Carumba, to institutionalize PNP’s Integrated Transformation Program-Performance Governance System as the most fitting way for the men and women in uniform to excel in their respective competencies, the Dav Or Oriental Advisory Council was created.
Carumba explained that the members of the Council will serve as advisers in the implementation of the different programs and projects of the agency.
“I will call on them to get their respective pulses on the programs and projects of the PNP, and on how we can effectively implement and deliver the services to the people,” he explained.
However, the PNP Advisory Council has no access to the operation of the PNP, and is limited to the interpretation analysis of PNP’s different endeavors.
In the Joint Induction Ceremony of the City and Provincial Advisory Councils in Davao Region held in Davao City on March 27, 2014, PNP Regional Director Wency Pascual affirned that the Council serves as a channel to find solution to today’s pressing issues confronting the nation, the PNP, and the people.
“Together, the PNP and the Council will hurdle a vital undertaking in the global competitiveness of peace and security. As we are now in our ultimate goal of transformation and development, we set the road map, which is the PATROL PLAN 2030.
But with us working together, we do not have to wait unitl 2030,” he stressed.
Dav Or Prov’l Director Carumba emphasized that the PNP is really bound for a reformed and more dynamic agency, away from its prvious image when the PNP did not enjoy the trust and confidence of the people.
“Maybe some of us are no longer in service in 2030, but what is important is that we are starting something that the future members of the agency and the public can really be proud of. Personally, I am very happy with the composition of our advisory council.
I have high hopes that we can work very harmoniously, and we can be productive,” he added.
Equally important is that the police force who vowed to serve and protect the people follows and adopts the core values needed to do its duty effectively and efficiently.
These values are the love and fear of God, love of people, and love of nature.
Gov. Corazon Malanyaon on her part, reiterated her full support to the DOPPO for the prevalence and sustaining peace and order in the province, the essential components to be achieved in realizing the utmost desire of peace and development. However, the Governor let out and hurled a standing challenge to the DOPPO.
“I am very consistent on this. I want the province to be free from illegal activities. My dream is a logging, and drug free Davao Oriental. I will never deprive you of my support as we will be working together on this,” she furthered.
The advisory council has a multi-sectoral composition. There are representations from the local government, academe, business sector, non-government organizations, religious sector, and media.
For Davao Oriental, the members include DILG-Prov’l Director Yvette Tolentino-Sunga, Councilor Alfonso Alcantara, Mrs. Lolita Lopiba, Mr. Danilo Enriquez who was represented by Mr. Eliseo Sibay in the induction ceremony, Pastor Ruben Colmo, Pastor Reynaldo Gitacay, Mr. Eddie Chua, Mr. Timoteo Lamodoc, and Miss Leonila Duallo.
Mrs. Lolita Lopiba, the elected Dav Or PNP Advisory Council Chair, sees the new development as welcome to her array of advocacies, and will soon schedule the first meeting of the Council.
