Crimean minority leader warns of possible bloodshed
The leader of Crimea’s Muslim Minority, the Tatars, warned about possible bloodshed in Crimea and southern Ukraine.
“Our largest, biggest concern is about the possibility of clashes, of large scale bloodshed in Crimea,” said Mustafa Dzhemilev, also a member of Ukraine’s parliament said in a report posted in CNN.
“No matter how weak we are in military in comparison to Russia…we’ll start fire,” he said.
The conflict erupted after Ukrainian President Victor Yanukoych pulled out an association deal with the European Union last November resulting to street protests and his downfall. Since then, Pro-Russian forces have taken over the Crimea region of Ukraine.
