Back on the Air?
RADIO REVIVAL — Plans are underway for the revival of the archdiocese’s radio station DXGN back “on the air”. Fr. Ritchie Gamaya and his team met with the ACCLAIM members and next week they will present the plan to all priests during a presbyterium. Ms. Cheng Vilog has tentatively mapped out to the detail the road map for this effort.

“CLOSE OPEN” –The idea is to get first the approval and support of everyone before the station is re-opened. It had gone through several “close, open” stages in the past and it is important that once re-opened, it is sustainable and remains that way. Although we are in the modern age of the internet and social media, there are still many out there especially in the rural areas who rely mainly on radio for information, views, entertainment and doctrinal guidance.

A CHALLENGE — It is a challenge to all of us Catholics to get this radio revival going, especially when we see around us state-of-the-art facilities of other religious groups and we, more than a million Catholics around cannot get a modest radio station on the air. What a pity! Yes, we are getting the personal support of Archbishop Valles in this but the support of all lay and religious groups is critical to make it sustainable.

LONG VACATION — Due to some changes in the school calendar where some schools will open in August, there will be 4 months of summer vacation ahead. It may be best to use those 4 months for something more productive than let it pass idly by.
