VICARIATE YOUTH DAY Can We Start it Over Again?

Last February 23, 2014 the Sacred Heart of Jesus Vicariate – Calinan held the 3rd Vicariate Youth Day at the St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Tagakpan.   It was attended by 1,200 young people coming from the parishes of Mary Help of Christians of Dacudao, Blessed John Paul II of Ula, San Roque of Malabog, San Isidro of Lumondao,  Sacred Heart of Jesus of Calinan, and the host parish of Tagakpan.   The parish of San Miguel in Marahan has still to organize their youth ministry so Fr. Jerry & Fr. Felo begged off to be excused.

The theme of the celebration is “We are young: run, jump, shout but do not sin.”  Thus, the young people were engaged into activities that really made them expressed themselves to the fullest except sinning.   The event started with a street parade and ended the day with the celebration of the Holy Mass officiated by Fr. Jojo Ortiz, DAYCA Coordinator with Fr. Andy Satura, SDB who broke the church down with his homily, and Fr. Ariel ,OSJ as co-celebrant with Fr. Peter, OSJ as liturgy in charge.

The youth are very grateful to their parish priests for the rare opportunity to meet other young people who are just a smile away from their hearts.  Fr. Arnel, the vicar forane and parish priest of Calinan together with Fr. Adam and two Fr. Ricky’s rented trucks just to transport their youth to the venue.   Fr. Pete, Fr. Edsel and Fr. Ben secured T-shirt uniforms for their youth that added more color to the festivity.   Congratulations to the different parish coordinators Juvy, Raul, Cindy, Nova, Jundell, and John for spending sleepless nights and hardworking days in making this event a storm surge success.

The young people wanted to start over again the same experience and could no longer wait in excitement for the next vicariate youth day which is tentatively scheduled in Malabog: up, up, up there!
