How old is the Earth?

According to Scientists the Earth as we know it is already 4.54 billion years. A new, rather oldest piece of earth was found in Perth, Australia. The translucent red crystal is 400 micrometers long or about four human hairs as reported in cnn.com.

Scientists study using the standard methods of dating rocks through the radioactive decay of uranium atoms to lead. In their new study, researchers used a technique called atom-probe tomography, which allows scientists to image single atoms of lead and determine the isotope ratio.(E. Serrano)
