KOTAS Convened at XaCoSe

“Servers, readers, commentators, and members of the choir also exercise a genuine liturgical function.” (Sacrosanctum Concilium, 29)

Altar servers or “Knights of the Altar” (KOTAS) are those children or adolescents who help the priest and deacons at the service of the altar. They carry the cross, candles, books, incense, wine and water, and give the celebrant anything needed. The altar servers are not instituted acolytes, but de facto “act” as such in most ways.

The KOTAS Convention 2014 started with the Eucharistic celebration presided by Fr. Russel A. Bantiles and concelebrated by Fr. Arnold A. Balaquinto at St. Francis Xavier College Seminary. Most Rev. Romulo G. Valles graced the said convention which evolved around the theme “Batan-ong Layko Balaanong Pinadala sa Pagpangalagad.”

Fr. Bantiles who served as the speaker, shared to the altar boys the 3S which means: Service, Studies and Spirituality. After the input, the participants got the chance to share and express their views.

Apart from learning things in a deeper way, the participants also got the chance to enjoy some parlor games and ball games like basketball and volleyball. As a whole, the convention was successful because each participant went home bringing some worthwhile learning experience during the said convention.
