Davao Doc Student bags P100,000 Business Seed Fund
Sarah May S. Ko, BSHM 4 graduating student, bagged the grand prize of P100,000 as business seed fund in the recently concluded Business Plan Competition, the first ever in Davao Doctors College (DDC). Ko’s Business Plan entitled “Desserts by Sarah” amused the Panel of Examiners even more when after the presentation Sarah gave the panel and the audience a taste of her cakes and pastries. Kudos also goes to her mentor/advisor, Mr. Enrique E. Abanilla, Jr.
In addition to the P100,000, Ko also received P10,000.00 cash prize.
The panel of examiners was chaired by Dr. Guillermo P. Torres, Jr., President, University of Mindanao with Engr. Robert C. Quinto, General Manager of Jhaymart Industries, Inc. And Past President and current Trustee of Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Mr. Teolulo T. Pasawa, Provincial Director, Department of Trade and Industry, as members.
The initial launching of the competition was held last February 7, 2014 and the top three winners identified during the initial screening vied for the finals on March 7, 2014 at the DDC AVR.
The Business Plan Competition was the brainchild of DDC President Miguel D. Soledad as an offshoot of the Medical Entrepreneurship (MedEntrep) classes offered to all DDC students across all courses. The contest was opened to all MedEntrep classes through their instructors under the leadership of Dr. Estela R. Dequito, MedEntrep Program Chair.
Other winners in the final competition were: Derek Dale Ang-Bayquen, BSPT 5 – second place and the group of BSOT4 students led by Mitchelle James A. Advincula – third place.
Effective the First Semester of School Year 2014-2015, DDC will be offering the Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship.
