NBW ’14 Reaches Out Families

The National Bible Week ’14 was successfully celebrated in different parishes of the Archdiocese of Davao last January 20-26 with the theme: “Engaging Every Family in Proclaiming and Living the Word.”

Mrs. Madilyn Tito, Head Catechist and Pastoral office In-charge of St. Joseph, the Worker Parish in Sasa happily finds it very productive this year because of the positive response as families joined the different activities like the Bible Quiz, Video Drama Contest, Divine Cost Play, Gospel Song Writing Contest and Motorcade around the vicinity of the Parish.

She added that the Family Bible Enthronement is the focal activity as they visited families in different GKK’s to make the word of God become a guide to their daily life. “The Family Bible Enthronement gave us an inspiration to move and share to people how important the word of God is,” she emphasized.

Moreover, according to Mrs. Nora Arsua, formation In-charge of San Pablo Parish in Matina,  this year’s Bible Week was well prepared compared to last year. The Parish also conducted different activities such as Bible Quiz, Poster Making Contest, Symposiums and Bible Blessing participated by the different families from GKK’s and other religious groups.

“Families from different GKK’s participated in the event not just because of the price that we prepared but the learning they get about the Word of God and also spending quality time together as a family in sharing the Word of God,” she said.

As they enthroned the bible to families starting January 12, members are encouraged to make a prayerful reading of the bible, at least once a week, with all the members present if possible.

Mr. And Mrs. Emiliano and Criselda Amores from Sto. Niño, Dumalag said that reading the Bible gives unity among the family members and this also gives a solution to every problem by applying the Word of God in their daily life.

Another family from the Holy Trinity GKK, Mr. Rutie and Sarah Jane Malbacias shared that they are very happy in joining this celebration because they learn a lot about the Word of God and living His words because it is the pillar of our faith in God.

The yearly celebration of the NBW reminds us to read the Bible together and pray together to make avoid do the wrong and make our faith strong. When we are engaged in proclaiming and living the Word of God together, Christ becomes truly present in our midst.
