Music of their town gives hope to us
As early as childhood, people can carry a tune even before they speak.
This is the town of Loboc in Bohol, known as the music capital of the province who generously shared their pool of talents to the Philippines and to the world.
Recently, Davao is the witness of the showcase of their talents when the Loboc Youth Ambassadors Band visited the city to perform in the concert held, December 28 at the SMX Convention Center, Davao.
The band proves what Archbishop Romulo G. Valles said during his welcome address before the concert that “Loboc breaths music as it were. And children can carry a tune before they can speak.”
As part of the celebration of their golden anniversary, the St. Francis Xavier Regional Major Seminary brought in the band to the delight of the audience, majority of who have heard the band perform for the first time.
In the wake of the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that struck Bohol and Cebu last October 15, thoughts of canceling the show was raised but thank God, the members still wanted to push through with the show and the rest is history.
The St. Peter the Apostle Parish Church of Loboc was not spared from the earthquake as the church was left into ruins after the quake.
It was a timely concert as part of the proceeds will be used to rehabilitate the parish church.
Clad in all-white garb and bringing their respective instruments—from flute, to saxophone, to trumpet, to trombone, the members of the Loboc Youth Ambassadors delivered their best tunes in an orchestra of instruments that delivered a perfect symphony of music consisting of pop novelties to the music of the elders.
In their faces, one cannot see the sadness that the Earthquake has brought them but only the joy of fulfillment as they enjoy playing their music with the audience delighted in every tune, and who were also given the hope that Bohol can rise up from the ruins.
For the Archbishop of Davao, the night is not only a night to enjoy good music but a night to support a noble cause of rebuilding the parish church of Bohol.
The concert is also one of the highlights of the 50th anniversary of St. Francis Xavier Regional Major Seminary (REMASE) that forms future priests.
“The seminary needs our support. It always needs our support. Our seminary in this region of Mindanao,” Archbishop Valles, a product of REMASE quipped.
