LTO promotes responsible driving, fixes fixers

Vehicular accidents are not new but the agency responsible for giving the permit for the privilege of driving wants to show how serious they are in reducing accidents due to bad driving.

The Land Transportation Office-XI said it wants to solve the problem of fixers, which accordingly gives undeserving drivers the chance to have a driver’s license out of unscrupulous means.

Assistant Regional Director Macario D. Gonzaga said fixers are now barred from entering the premises of the LTO office in Quimpo Boulevard, Davao City.

During the Kapihan sa SM press conference at SM Annex, Ecoland last February 17, Gonzaga said the guards on-duty are not allowing them to transact for patrons who want an easier way to acquire or renew their driver’s license.

He also called on the attention of the public to never transact with fixers and only with employees of LTO.

Aside from fixers, LTO is also watching out for ‘colorum’ vehicles, which are not registered yet with the office and plying already in the roads like passenger vans which do not have the franchise yet to travel or are still using the green plate number and not the yellow plate issued for public utility vehicles.

“What is at stake is the safety of our passengers,” Gonzaga said.
