#LittleWay social media campaign spreads St.Therese’s life
St. Therese of the Child Jesus will reach the ‘digital continent’ on the Day of the Little Way social media campaign, February 4.
Organizers of this event want to spread the life of St. Therese of the Child Jesus who was known for her Little Ways of loving the Lord who also endeared her to people and made her a Doctor of the Church.
Through the hashtag #LittleWay, social media enthusiasts or netizens can make this campaign trend or become viral through Twitter and Vine, which according to the organizers are simple ways to reach out to millions of people with just a click of a button, just like what Pope Francis did when he continued using the @Pontifex account created by his predecessor Pope Benedict XVI.
“Our hope for ‘The Day of the Little Way’ is that Catholics everywhere will recognize this powerful tool for their faith, and that they’ll choose to actively live their faith by the example of St. Therese in a little way on Twitter and Vine,” Lindsay Olson, from Colorado who co-organized this campaign with Katie Moore. The two are fans of the book entitled, “Three Gifts of Therese of Lisieux” by the late Bishop Patrick Ahern, who also inspired them to spread the campaign.
Netizens can post their stories of kindness from a stranger or a time when charity was practiced on another using the hashtag #LittleWay, their favorite quote from St. Therese, or a passage from Bishop Ahem’s book if they have a copy or just a personal prayer.
Bishop Ahem identified the three gifts of St. Therese that were meaningful to him namely: her universal appeal, her conviction and her “little way.”
“It was his hope that these gifts would provide inspiration to others who are seeking to find more meaning in their faith and their journey to find God,” Moore said in a report posted at cbcpnews website. (John Frances C. Fuentes/@dcherald)
