Holy Name Society celebrates founding anniversary
Two chapters of the Holy Name Society of the Diocese of Mati celebrated their founding anniversary—Lupon, Davao Oriental, and Mati City.
Last November 17, 2013, the Holy Name Society of San Vicente Ferrer Parish, Lupon, Davao Oriental joyfully celebrated their fourth founding anniversary. The event started with the celebration of the Eucharistic sacrifice presided over by Rev. Fr. George Cajes wherein 21 members of the Confraternity renewed their commitment to the society. After the mass, a get-together party was held.
An inspirational message was given by Fr. Ronie Orellanida, and Bro. Felipe ‘Bebot’ Canias shared his thoughts on faith as “Year of Faith” was the event’s theme.
Among the guests present were the members of the Holy Name Society of San Nicolas de Tolentino Parish, Mati, headed by Bro. Cupertino ‘Joy’ Obguia, HNS President Mati Chapter. Election of new set of officers also took place and the newly-elected officers are as follows: Sis. Henedina Bagay, President; Sis. Hilda Olanday, 1st Vice President; Sis. Lonie Baral, 2nd Vice President; Sis. Rizalina Ramos, Secretary; Sis. Ma. Ana De La Cruz, Asst. Secretary; Sis. Letecia Navares, Treasurer and Sis. Nenita Luga, Asst. Treasurer. They were inducted by Fr. Orellanida.
Meanwhile, January 19, 2014 marked the 28th founding anniversary of the Holy Name Society of San Nicolas de Tolentino Parish-Mati City with its theme: “Mapadayonong Panaw sa mga Layko diha sa Balaang Ngalan ni Kristo.” Members attended the 7:00 AM Mass and a short program was held in the evening with the Holy Namers showing their prowess in dancing and singing.
Fr. Roland Sayman also graced the occasion with his inspirational talk, he being the confraternity’s former Spiritual Director. He also inducted the new set of officers. Meantime, members who had not been seen for quite a long time attended the affair to the delight of other members.
