“Careful. Baka ma Vhong ka!”

NEW WORD  —  There ‘s a new word added to the dictionary lately: “vhong”. Using it in a sentence: “Careful. Baka ma Vhong ka!” hahaha!

TEMPTATION — The classic incident of Vhong Navarro being allegedly tempted or enticed into the condo of Denise Cornejo should now be a warning to  men and deter them from going alone into some pretty lady’s lonely  home  “para di ka ma Vhong”.

PRESIDENT DUTERTE? —    I was told that Mayor Rody Duterte in his last  Sunday TV show “Para Sa Masa”, did not totally reject and rule out  the  “Duterte for President” clamors and calls. I was in Manila then so I didn’t watch. But I remember hearing him say in an earlier speech before the Davao American Chamber of Commerce that he would consider this but not under ordinary conditions. He preferred a  revolutionary or emergency-situation type of a scenario. Reason: our present state of things is incorrigible and hopeless and only a martial law type of a setup or the suspension of certain rights can auger well for drastic reforms.   Short of that, he’d prefer to stay put in Davao.

MILF PACT QUESTIONED —I was told by a lawyer who studied closely  the MILF framework agreement, including its Annexes that it is allegedly worse than the MOA AD that was declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court. She cited provisions that mentioned   “BIAF” , ( which officially recognizes the belligerent armed force of the MILF) which previous agreements intentionally avoided due to its legal ramifications that could give belligerency status to the rebel group; it also ceded territories like regional waters not at all given before ; it mentioned “MILF camps” instead of “ MILF identified areas”  or “conflict affected areas” that previous agreements were so careful about. There are so many other points subject to study.  It was   said that  the agreement had “not adequately  covered the ass” of the President. When the euphoria subsides, the close scrutiny starts.

Well, let the legal minds look into this. But for mainstream Mindanaoans, any agreement that can bring peace is good enough.

CHURCH AUDIO –I attended last Sunday’s high noon mass at Quiapo Church in Metro Manila. I marvel at the number of church goers all packed like sardines in that huge ancient structure, altho the audio was bad that one couldn’t dicepher what the priest was saying all throughout. Oh well, we have our own share of this in our  Davao churches too.
