There comes a point in our lives when tragedy after tragedy befalls us to the point that we begin to question God and His love for us. Twenty-four year old Luela Ukay is a public school teacher. Graduated with honors with a wonderful career in front of her, she was at her peak.

On March 29, 2011, a beloved cousin died. Exactly three months later, her grandmother followed. But as they say, when tragedy comes, it comes in threes. So when her father died a little after two years later, she completely lost it. Her mind was suddenly filled with doubts over God’s will. The questions “Why is God doing this to me, to us?

At some point in her grieving state, she started to ponder that that yes, it was His will to take her Papa Luis, but it was definitely for a reason. Her father had been sick for years and his death.

Might be the Lord’s will to end his suffering and ease the pain he was going through. It was hard but soon, acceptance followed. No matter how tough it was, it’s a reality they have to face. No matter how painful, she believes everything happens for a reason.

And for the people who have strayed in their paths and have lost their faith in God just as she once did, Luela has only these words to say: “May the incident I have encountered be an eye opener to everyone that God is always here beside us and will always be. There may be downs and trials but all these things happen because of God’s will. ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS TRUST HIM AND HAVE FAITH IN HIM FOR HE IS OUR GOD.”
