Remember History
Why is it important to remember or study history? Because there is some truth in the saying: History repeats itself. So the wisdom of studying history is so you may learn to avoid the mistakes of past persons. It’s true to err is human but that’s no excuse for committing or repeating the mistakes which could be wisely avoided.
Jesus kept advicing us about the importance of humility and avoiding that sinister sin of pride of the devils who rebelled against God and were cast into the everlasting flames of Hell. It’s an insidious temptation—that sin of pride—because you may fall into its clutches without realizing it. Pray often therefore for the grace of humility—in ourselves and in our friends so we and our close friends may avoid such sinister pride that caused Satan’s fall into Hell whereas once he was prince of the angels. “And now war broke out in heaven when Michael with his angels attacked the dragon. The dragon fought back with his angels but they were defeated and driven out of heaven. The great dragon, the primeval serpent, knon as the devil or Satan, who had deceived all the world, was hurled down to the earth and his angels were hurled down with him. Then I heard a voice shout from heaven. Victory and power and empire forever have been won by our God, and all authority for his Christ, now that the persecutor, who accused our brothers day and night before our God, has been brought down. They have triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the witness of their martyrdom, because even in the face of death they would not cling to life. Let the heavens rejoice and all who live there; but for you, earth and sea, trouble is coming because the devil has gone down to you in a rage, knowing that his days are numbered” (Rev. 12:7-12).
