Anonas and Atis are good sources of Vitamin C and carbohydrates. Balimbing is a fair source of iron, Vitamins B, and C. it also contains oxalic acids and potassium oxalate.
Bataw seeds, young pods and tops are excellent vegetables. The seeds are excellent source of protein, calcium and iron. They also contain fat.
Bawang is rich in calcium, iron, phosphorous, Vitamins A, B, and C, protein, fats, and carbohydrates. It is a super food for the heart. Its food and medicinal values have been recognized for a long, long time. Records show that it was a favorite food, along with onion, among Hebrews while they were in Egypt. “We remember the fish we used to eat without cost in Egypt, and the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onion, and the garlic” (Numbers 11:5).
While folklore medicine has long recognized the wondrous medicinal value of garlic, it is only during the past two or three decades that the scientific world begins to acknowledge its medicinal value and started to conduct serious studies and experiments on this taken-for-granted plant. 1n 1990, the First World Congress on Garlic was held at Washington, D.C. Since then more than one thousand scientific papers have been published in books and in various scientific journals, which endorse, in varying degrees, the claim of folklore medicine.
