Let’s Communicate our Faith

MATI CITY – The 17th anniversary of Mama Mary’s Woods in Puntalinao, Banaybanay, Davao Oriental also underlined the second year clarion call of the Catholic Women’s League (CWL) in the whole diocese of Mati to respond to the call—“Let’s Communicate our Faith!”

Let’s Communicate our Faith

As early as 6:30AM on October 20, the different CWL vicariate members started to arrive to clean up and prepare their respective places for the one-day activity open to the general public to pay respects to the Blessed Virgin of the forest-woods decked with flowers, tarpauline tents, and the blue concrete seats and tables ready to serve the over 300 CWL members and officials and visitors from the province and outside.
The activity started with the recitation of the Holy Rosary, followed by flower offerings to Mama Mary, doxology, and words of welcome by CWL President Sis Norma Lanaban who reminded everyone of the CWL “commitment to communicate our faith by faithfully, lovingly, simply living out the truths of our Faith as a true disciple of Jesus, while also supporting various media expressions to spread the Gospel.”
An inspirational message on behalf of Banaybanay Mayor Adalia L. Tambuang was delivered by Administrative Officer Mahir Loren, wherein the latter described the horizontal and vertical relationships of a person as being respectful and helpful to one another (horizontal) and worshipping and obeying God above all (vertical).
Bishop Patricio H. Alo, D.D. presiding over the Eucharistic Celebration held underneath the small mushroom-like covered court at 11:00 AM, acknowledged the “dakong buhat ug pailob sa CWL sa pagdevelop sa maanindot nga kalasangan ni Birhen Maria taliwa sa mga kalisdanan aron sa pagsangyaw sa kaayo ug gugma sa Diyos diha sa pag-amoma ni Mama Mary,” while he also encouraged the ladies to “continue your teaching and communicating of the Divine Truth in your homes and communities.”
Lunch was salo-salo style by vicariates, as each group animatedly shared delicacies with one another and with the invited guests, including the famous Banaybanay church choir; more excitement followed with the raffle draw, as diocesan treasurer Sis Flora Hao also collected the envelopes for seminary aid generously donated by the different vicariates.
Before the raffle draw and the closing rites and singing of the CWL hymn, Sis Estela Dumadaug, diocesan 1st vice president, voiced her sincerest thanks on behalf of the CWL officers, to all the 15 active working committees and recognized the “encouraging presence” of the many members from the East Coast who were victims of the Super-typhoon Pablo; while she also paid tribute to the work of media evangelization over the air through the Catholic Radio stations DXHM/DXDV and handed a modest amount to Sr. Marietta, OND to express their appreciative support.
