Best practices of Mati’s diocesan media shared

The best practices of the Diocese of Mati’s social communications and mass media apostolate was shared to Davao Catholic Herald, Asia’s longest-running Catholic newspaper.

Bishop Patricio Alo, Bishop of Mati welcomed the DCHerald team and talked to them about how the diocese started the radio station, DXHM Heart of Mary, the AM station which now runs for 22 years already.
He said it is important to have a media apostolate for every diocese since it is a vehicle for evangelization.

Sr. Marietta Alo, OND, the Program Director of DXHM and DXDV Dei Verbum, the fm station of the Diocese of Mati which runs for four years, said there are a lot of difficulties in running a radio station especially with the cost of operations but they are doing their best for the Lord to evangelize the faithful of Davao Oriental.

The DCHerald team also toured the radio station and learned how they were able to evangelize the faithful. Bishop Alo also toured the team to the renowned Dahican beach in Mati City, which is known as a surfing hub in Davao Oriental.

Bishop Alo and Sr. Alo also congratulated DCHerald as it celebrates its diamond jubilee as an archdiocesan newspaper of Davao. It can be remembered that Bp. Alo has been writing for DCHerald in his column, Truth Sets Us Free for years already. Sr. Alo is also a contributor of news articles concerning the issues and events in the local Church of Mati.
