Bangkal parish joins oplan tabang bagyo for Yolanda survivors

The Davao Archdiocesan Social Action Center launched “Oplan Tabang Bagyo” last November 10, 2013. The operation center was placed at the GSIS covered court at the Ascension of the Lord Parish under the care of ASAC Director Father Leonardo Dublan, Jr. and ASAC Finance Officer Sr. Marissa Arado, TDM.

This recent oplan is in response to the plight of the people in Eastern Philippines, particularly in Tacloban City, who survived from the world’s strongest typhoon Yolanda that savaged said areas of the country last November 8 that left more than 4000 people died.

Along with other volunteers from different parishes in the archdiocese, active parishioners from the Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Bangkal responded to the call of moral obligation and hastily volunteered at the operation center last November 19 and 20 for the receiving and repacking of relief goods. Among the volunteers from the OLLP were Pastoral Disaster Team Coordinator Jose Josol, Formation Coordinator Vonz Hijada, and 20 PSA volunteers from the Social Action Ministry spearheaded by Ofelia Bautista and Thelma Bernasor.

RESPO Team from the Philippine National Police in Catitipan led by Regional Executive SPO4 Nicomedes Soriano, with the blessing from their Chaplain Police Superintendent Father Jimbo Seniña, also volunteered in the “Oplan Tabang Bagyo” of Davao Archdiocese.

As of press time, the oplan had already loaded two NMC container vans last November 15 and three NMC container vans last November 18 via Lorenzo Shipping Lines that shipped the relief goods to Cebu City with the Archdiocese of Cebu as the consignee.
