1st Archdiocesan Youth Leaders Camp: A Fresh Start to Unite
More than 400 youth leaders…36 parishes…7 vicariates…1 Archdiocesan Youth Leaders Camp 2013!
“Go and Make Disciples of all Nations (Matthew 28:19)”…is the theme of the very 1st Archdiocesan Youth Leaders Camp held last October 25-27,2013 at St.Francis Xavier College Seminary, Catalunan Grande, Davao City.
AYLC’13 brings forth the re-echo from the recently concluded World Youth Day celebration in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. The Archdiocese of Davao was able to send 11 delegates to the WYDRio’13.Within 3-days, WYD pilgrims Dan Baliano, Imeelyn Krystle Cordero, Dra.Manilee Araune, and Marjorie Joy Olea have shared their faith experiences through their 3-fold topic: Go, Be not afraid, Serve.
GO…stresses the challenge in passing on and living the faith. BE NOT AFRAID…in bringing Christ in every area may it be in the parishes, basic ecclesial communities, families, and bearing witness to the faith. SERVE…in accepting differences with our fellow brothers and sisters, and working out of love and humility.
Solidarity Night was one of the highlights of the camp, showcasing the rich culture of Davao that is synonymous to Brazil. Representatives from the 7 vicariates entertained the crowd with their creative performances. San Pedro Vicariate got the Best Performance of the evening.
Archbishop Romulo G.Valles,DD graced the event as he presided the culmination Mass. In his homily, Archbishop Valles stressed the importance of knowing the person of Jesus. He said, “Before we can GO and MAKE disciples of all nations, we need first to COME, KNOW, and EXPERIENCE the person of Jesus in our lives. The pilgrims of the World Youth Day experienced Jesus in Brazil; they cannot help but share that same experience to others… to you, the youth leaders of our Archdiocese.”
The AYLC’13 was spearheaded by the Davao Archdiocesan Youth Coordination Apostolate (DAYCA).
